Before ordering, check the exact strip’s voltage, watts per metre, lumen output, roll length, strip width, cutting interval and maximum permitted run. Select the IP rating for the actual exposure. Cut ends and connections also need suitable protection; the strip’s rating alone does not establish suitability for an entire installation.

Which LED strip colour temperature should I choose?

Match the appearance to your finishes and nearby lighting. Compare the Kelvin rating on each product and test a sample where possible. Lumens per metre, rather than Kelvin, tells you about the stated light output.

Do I need a separate driver?

Check what is supplied with the product. A low-voltage strip needs a compatible power supply; do not assume a strip-only roll includes a driver. Match the specified output voltage and driver type, then size it for the connected load and manufacturer requirements.

Can LED strips be dimmed or controlled by an app?

Only with a compatible combination of strip, driver and controls. Fixed-white, CCT and RGB strips have different control requirements. Confirm the exact supported functions before purchasing.

How do I choose a strip for a damp or outdoor location?
